Yanshan County is located at the beautiful backyard of the affluent Pearl River Delta. It is linked to Guangzhou through Qingxin County in its south, to Hunan Province through Lianzhou in its north, east to Shaoguan City, and west to Guangxi Province. Transportation network is well developed, which includes Highways 106, 107 and 323, and the Beijiang River and its tributaries.
Since the central government realigns its policies in 2003, Yanshan has become the most important economic, trading and investment center of northern Guangdong Province due to its transportation, geographic and administrative advantages, and favorable policies for mountainous areas.
The town area of Yanshan is 182 Km from Guangzhou City and 310 Km from Shenzhen City, being linked by Highway 107 and a super highway to be opened for traffic in the end of 2007.
The town area of Yanshan has an area of 22 sq Km, residential population 120,000, migrating worker population 100,000. In recent 2 years, population increases by 20,000 per year.
Water supply pipework covers an area of 20 sq Km, will increase to 23 sq Km in 2007. Water production equipments including testing and automatic control equipments are of national standard. Water production capacity is 40,000 tons per day.
